When Is the Right Time to Buy or Sell a Home?

Ah, February…a time when New Year’s Resolutions can comfortably fall by the wayside without too much guilt (hey you made it 31 days!). It’s also a time of boxes of chocolates appearing in every aisle of your grocery store (pro tip: get something else 😉).

But the real question I hear all year long is: When is the right time to buy or sell a house? The honest answer is—it depends. Timing a move has less to do with the calendar and more to do with a mix of factors, from broader economic indicators like interest rates, employment levels, inflation, and consumer confidence, to hyper-local data such as inventory levels. Personal circumstances often matter just as much, if not more.

Bottom line advice…don’t buy the cheap box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day (and call me for thoughtful, well-informed guidance).
